Land Acknowledgement
Westerner Park is located on Treaty 7 territory, in Central Alberta, where Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 territories meet, and within the Métis Nation homeland.
For generations, Central Alberta has been a place where Indigenous Peoples have gathered, traded, shared traditions, and built community. This includes the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot Confederacy, Stoney Nakoda, Tsuut’ina Nations, and Métis Peoples.
As a place that continues to bring people together, Westerner Park recognizes and respects the enduring connection Indigenous Peoples have to this land. We acknowledge our shared responsibility to listen, learn, build meaningful relationships, and move forward in the spirit of respect and reconciliation.
